About the project: Mia, a type one diabetic who struggles with the medical care of her condition, deals with the pressure of working for a money-making pharmaceutical company. After being tasked to lobby the senate to pass a bill that removes insulin coverage from the government's health insurance plan, Mia is faced with a moral dilemma of stepping up her career at the expense of people who suffer from her same illness. This constant burden fuels her resentment toward her condition, her career, and a world built to work against her, resulting in her surrendering to the deal and getting that one final vote that will make medicine less accessible to thousands, increasing profits for the company she works for. An ambitious pharmaceutical executive who sets impossibly high expectations for herself. Because of office power plays, she puts on a harsh cover to the world, especially as the person lobbying to privatize healthcare. Office politics and her role as a government lobbyist demand that she keep her diabetes a secret. This makes her grow tired of the struggle of dealing with the condition.
The boss of the pharmaceutical company. Serious-looking businessman, powerful and authoritarian. His actions feel slimy and filled with ulterior motives. When Dick (the last senator to confirm his vote) shows up he becomes a bit of a suck-up. Roger is someone whose status is dependent on who he talks to. Everything is about strategy to him.
Corporate assistant. Being younger than Mia and the only woman in the office, she looks up to her. Amy enjoys gossip and wants to know what is happening with everyone and everything in the office. She is Mia´s right hand, but believes in playing the corporate game; she would stab her in the back if it would benefit her. She is both a source of support and pressure for Mia.
A conservative senator of the United States government. Power and money addict. Very masculine. Leads with stillness and silence. His calculated decisions are driven by whatever benefits him the most. Knowing his vote would change the balance makes him cocky towards everybody in the room, specifically Mia.
