Performers Needed for Production of "Our Town"
The company is holding auditions for "Our Town" Show and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Additional info: Actors will be reading selections from the script, no prepared readings necessary. Many roles are gender and/or race neutral. Bring your calendar and be prepared to list all rehearsal conflicts in advance of casting. Young actors should bring an adult to help list rehearsal conflicts. Forms will be provided at auditions. Rehearsals begin Sunday, August 3 and run weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 – 9 p.m. at The Merc Playhouse. Required rehearsals include tech on October 5 and dress rehearsals October 6, 7, and 8. Performances begin Thursday, October 9 and run through October 19. Please apply to sign up.

Must be a good story teller, able to command the stage and engage the audience. Loves people, easy going and grounded with clear wisdom. This character is the all-knowing narrator who literally sets the stage, describes the action and introduces the actors. He/she steps in and out of the action as other characters; a minister, a drug store owner, a neighbor lady passing by
The love story with George and Emily is the spine of the play’s action. She has a strong love of life.
He is highly educated and is the editor and owner of the only local newspaper. Has a strong connection with his daughter
Healthy, small woman, she sings in the choir, prepares the family meals (the actor needs to be comfortable and good at miming), and worries that she hasn’t prepared Emily well enough for marriage.
He is a romantic and idealistic about life. He strongly and sincerely desires to be the best person he can be for the love of his life.
