Casting Call for "Soon" Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking cast to play roles in "Soon" film. More details are below. About the project: With no recipe or culinary skill, Soojin must prepare her late grandmother’s sundubu-jjigae (Korean soft tofu stew) in hopes of fulfilling her mother’s dying wish. Rate: UBCP/ACTRA or Equivalent. $150/day honorarium. Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) June 27-30. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Vancouver. Submission Deadline May 30, 2025. Korean. Fluency in English is required. Soojin is introspective and sensitive. In the wake of her mother's potential illness she is grappling with death, Korean identity, loneliness, and the underlying feeling that she may not have lived up to her mother's expectations.
Korean. Soojin's mother. Stubborn, blunt, and slightly judgemental. She is currently in the hospital awaiting test results, but she is still able bodied and appears mostly healthy. She is sick of the monotony and blandness of being stuck in the hospital.
Korean. Soojin's Halmoni. Gentle, tender, patient, grandmotherly. The ghost of Soojin's Halmoni appears and helps her cook the sundubu-jjigae.
