Searching for Performers for Upcoming Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers to play changeling carnival workers in "Mr. Nowhere’s Disappearing Reappearing Starlight Carnival", a new immersive production. See the details below. About the show: The Disappearing Reappearing Starlight Carnival appears sporadically throughout history, performing death-defying acts, feats of strength, magic, and beautiful folly for human beings: the greatest show in any realm. There’s a catch, though. The Carnival refuses to leave, stop performing, or release the audience unless they can take one human soul with them, to travel forever performing as part of the circus. Someone always volunteers. Rate: Non union. Mr. Nowhere’s Disappearing Reappearing Starlight Carnival is a profit-share production, and performers will be paid a share of all profits upon the conclusion of the run. Share details will be included in the contract prior to the commencement of rehearsals and a full financial breakdown will be provided to all collaborators. Addiitonal information: Audition Location: Vancouver B.C., full details to be given to successful applicants. Shoot/Performance Date(s) Sept 4-7 and 10-14. This is an immersive production and will include a 1 hour pre-show portion. Please note you will be interacting with the audience in character, comfort with improv is a huge asset. Please also be aware that these performances will take place out doors. Submission Deadline May 9, 2025. If interested, please apply.
7 roles
A charming gremlin, somehow elegant and rakish and somehow a demon. Proud and show-offy. Scheming, skulking, a gremlin and loving it. An agent of chaos. Enjoys sowing confusion and discord. They’re the creature on the airplane wing undoing all the screws. Their clown is a foil to Clown. The ultimate illusionist without any cool tricks, just chaos.
In love with Duchess; they dream of leaving together and seeing what it's like to grow old. Charming, earnest. Loves animals, relates to them better than he does people. Caring and gentle, but brave enough to take action where necessary. Earns the respect of animals through strength, but not through fear. A nerd guy, not a whip guy. Wants to leave with Duchess, but is struggling with letting go of his role caring for the animals. Can he train the Bat Clown? Bat Clown resists at every turn.
Theatrical, dashing, and fancifully dressed, the strongest man in any realm. Grand, romantic, and powerful, with a dash of whimsy. Swashbuckling without the piracy. A giant goof. Kevin Kline in Pirates of Penzance. His reputation is somehow bigger than he actually is.
Contortionist/Dancer/Multi-circus skill performer, dressed as Space Babe Aviatrix. Was once Amelia Airheart, but isn’t anymore. Leans heavily costume-wise on silver. Bold, brash, daring and compelling, a trailblazing talent.
A daredevil a la Gonzo the Great. Happy to be here, game for anything, loves their role in the carnival. Unflappable and unafraid of any daring feat, if there was a fall guy in the carnival, it’s A Capella. Will be happy to be shot, stabbed, hurled, trampled, or any other injurious occurrence if it means the carnival gets the applause it deserves. A true artiste.
Additional Character. Strong improviser. Runs ring toss. Red of nose and pink of cheek, can and does speak freely and fully. Abbott and Costello, Merry and Pippin kind of vibes. A great duo act that’s been relegated to the game booths, they could easily recite Who’s On First from memory and have a great time doing it. They know their role and know it well, and the games, while rigged, are always fun.
