ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Casting actors for a coming of age short film entitled "The Legacy Dance". More details are below. About the project: Sixteen year old Kaya struggles with the grief of losing her grandmother, who was a guiding presence in her life, and the strain of a distant relationship with her mother, Mara When she discovers her grandmother's fancy dance regalia, trophies, and a diary filled with wisdom and history, Kaya is inspired to reconnect with her heritage by learning to dance. Through this transformative journey, Kaya finds -herself confronting self-doubt, bridging generational divides and embracing the healing strength of her culture. Rate: Union/Non Union - Honorarium payment of $100, with the exception of the character "Grandmother" who will receive a payment of $50. Craft and Catering available on set. Travel Reimbursement offered. Addtional information: An Official TFS Thesis Film. Since this is an official TFS thesis film, which has a deal with ACTRA they are able to cast both ACTRA and Nonunion actors for this film. Shooting on Six Nations Reserve on June 21st - 22nd. There will be multiple rounds of auditions, including an in person audition and a chemistry test. Pease, see the attachment. Indigenous Female. Lead role. A quiet, emotionally complex teen struggling with grief after the loss of her grandmother. Guarded and sharp-tongued, she hides her vulnerability beneath a tough exterior. Must have a strong emotional range. Dance experience is prioritized but not required.

Supporting, Indigenous female. A warm, pitesenice, deeply connected to her culture and traditions. Her influence continues beyond het passing, her love una tendings guide Kaye through her griet and self discovery. Must have a strong sereen presence.

MariaFemale36-39 y.o.All ethnicities

Supporting. Indigenous female. Kaya's mother, polished and determined but emotionally distant. She spent years prioritizing her career, leaving Kaya's upbringing to her mother. Now, she struggles to reconnect with her daughter and mend their fractured relationship.

Supporting. Kaya's best fond full of personality humous and unwavering loyalty.
