About the project: Logline: In the summer of 1986, two sisters witness a mysterious creature in the woods near their family cabin. When people begin to go missing, the sisters begin to uncover secrets to save the town in a queer, coming-of-age, cryptid story. Rate: ACTRA AIP Class 2. Additional information: Shoot Date(s): May 19th-June 13th, 2025. Shoot Location: Calgary and Surrounding Area. Self-Tape Casting (In-Person Callbacks are TBD). IMPORTANT – Please list any N/A Dates in the shooting window (May 19th-June 13th, 2025). Submission Deadline: April 24th, 2025 at 5:00pm MST. Verna is an eccentric woman who’s young at heart. She takes pride in the life she's built for her family and is conscious of how they are perceived by their community. As much as she loves her kids, she is in desperate need of some alone time with her husband Jack.
Eugene is routinely described as the town hermit. He prefers to live alone in the woods, outside of the public eye. He’s a nervous man with his walls firmly up, until they come crumbling down as he shares his secrets. He’s used to his low profile to help those who need it, but his knowledge and his findings are the key to unlocking the mystery of what’s been happening in the woods - until his untimely disappearance.
