Catherine and Claire’s father, a retired mathematics professor. In his later years, his genius has bowed to madness. Any ethnicity.
Robert’s daughter, she’s spent the last few years taking care of him. Independent and smart, she’s worried that, in addition to her father’s genius, she may have also inherited his mental illness.
A protege of Robert’s, and a PhD. candidate in mathematics. Plays in a band. On the nerdy side of cool, he’s ambitious, but trying to do the right thing.
Claire’s sister who’s returned home to Chicago for Robert’s funeral, and to woo Catherine to join her in NYC because she’s worried Catherine may have inherited their father’s mental illness.
