About the project: A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatergoers for over 30 years. Seymour, a meek floral assistant, discovers a strange and interesting new plant with a taste for human blood. As the plant grows, so does Seymour’s fame and fortune… but at what cost? Pronouns: He/Him Vocal Range: A2 – G4 Description: A shy, nerdy, and insecure florist’s assistant who is the unlikely hero of the story. His discovery of Audrey II gives him a shot at fame and love but at a deadly cost.
Pronouns: She/Her Vocal Range: G#3 – D5 (Strong mix/belt) Description: Sweet and vulnerable, Audrey works with Seymour at the flower shop. She dreams of a better life and is caught in a toxic relationship. Needs strong comedic timing and emotional depth.
Pronouns: He/Him Vocal Range: G2 – F4 Description: Grumpy, greedy owner of the flower shop. A bit of a con man with a flair for dramatic outbursts. Can be played with a wide variety of character takes.
Pronouns: Any Vocal Range: G2 – G4 (Rock Tenor) Description: Audrey’s sadistic partner . A flashy, arrogant, and abusive dentist with a dark sense of humor.
(Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon) Pronouns: She/Her Vocal Range: Ab3 – F5 (Strong harmony singers with soulful/R&B vocal quality) To be played by performers who self-identify as Black and/or African American. Description: A Greek Chorus-style trio who narrate and comment on the story. Sassy, sharp, and stylish with great stage presence and vocal blend.
Pronouns: Open Vocal Range: G2 – G4 (Powerful rock/soul voice) Description: The voice of the plant. Deep, soulful, commanding, and sinister. Often voiced offstage or from within the puppet. Looking for dynamic vocal power and strong character work.
Non-speaking role, but highly physical. Experience with puppetry or willingness to learn is a plus. Will operate various stages of the Audrey II plant.
