Seeking talent for "Unashamed To Be His" play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The play crosses our modern day with some 1st century scenes from the book of Acts. When three young Christians are frighteningly confronted about their faith, their mentor figure takes them out for a milkshake and a story from the book of Acts in order to illustrate the importance of not being ashamed of the Gospel. Additional info: Attendance of Rehearsals: Rehearsal Dates: April 28th, May 5th, 6th, 12th, 19th, 20th, 26th, 27th, June 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 30th, July 7th, 8th, Tech Week: July 14th, July 15th Dress Rehearsal: July 21st, July 23rd. Pickup Rehearsal July 22nd if needed. Show Dates: Friday, July 25th. Call time: 5:00 pm. Saturday, July 26th. Call Time: 5:00 pm. Main Role : [21st century] Lisa is Erica and Adam’s cousin, but also a very good friend. She is a professional young woman who works in some sort of office setting with a spunky, happy personality. She takes the lead whenever she’s with Adam and Erica. She’s at the crossroads of her faith where she knows she believes but is struggling with the downfalls of it. She isn’t as timid as Erica, but can be frightened given the right circumstances.

Grandpa LukeMale56-69 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [21st century]. Age can be worked but he can’t be younger than 45 unless he can pull off older and wiser very well.) Despite his name, Grandpa Luke isn’t directly related to anyone in the story. He is an inspirational mentor figure for the kids and young adults in the church he attends, therefore his adopted name “Grandpa Luke” comes from that. He is a gentle mentor whom all the youth look up to, he knows his Bible inside and out and often uses stories to illustrate his points.

RickyMale19-24 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [21st century] An intimidating character. Can be played anywhere from typical biker-type, gang member or aggressive bully, although he isn’t part of a gang. Confronts Adam, Lisa and Erica and demands to know if they’re Christians. Actor must be able to pull off intimidating and passive aggressive. His background is what led him to this lifestyle. He is going to be street smart.

ChloeFemale18-23 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [21st century] Should be younger than Ricky by a year or two) Ricky’s sister, a very intimidating, passive aggressive character. Having lived on the streets and in and out of foster homes with her brother, she will be street smart, hardcore sarcastic and give off biker or gang member vibes. This will be another emotional role as her aggressive shell cracks.

StephenMale25-45 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [1st century] This is the role of Stephen from the book of Acts. Actor must be able to get down on the floor and back up again without mobility issues. There is a death scene for this role. Actor must be comfortable with “dying” on stage and be able to pull of passion without anger toward others. Actor must also be able to memorize a long monologue.

AlexanderMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [1st century] A first century Jewish soldier. Strong personality, gives off a commanding presence and is friend to Saul. This will be an active role, there will be some running and busy time on stage.

SamuelMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [1st century] Another first century Jewish soldier. Has frequent time on stage. Like Alexander, gives off a strong personality. Another active role involving some running and busy-ness on stage.

SaulMale26-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Main Role [1st century] This is the role of Saul/Paul from the book of Acts. Saul is out to get the Christians, until the vision of Jesus knocks him off his horse...literally. Actor must be able to get down on the floor and back up again without mobility issues. Actor must be able to pull off blindness and a strong personality change as his character arc.

Supporting Role Anne is a widow, whom Stephen helps. She isn’t fully in mourning and has a sweet, grateful personality.

Supporting Role The high priest in the court where Stephen is tried. Should have a well-controlled personality and give off a sense of being large and in charge. Dignified.

Supporting Role A young lady who is afraid of what’s happening to her, but her strength in her faith and refusal to deny Jesus carries the entire message of the story. Must be able to convey that strong sense of faith and duty while still being humble about it. Must also be comfortable with acting like she’s getting arrested on stage.

Supporting Role Pretty self explanatory. :) This will be done as a voiceover, so actor will be backstage with a mic. This can also be a recording played via speaker.

Supporting Role Age can also be worked around) This is the part of Annanias from the book of Acts. Has only a small bit on stage. A strong, Christian man who obeys the Lord and restores Saul’s sight. He treats Saul like a brother, regardless of everything that happened.
