About the project: When May Collins, an elderly woman dismissed by her son and his elitist wife, is cast out of their home, she stumbles upon a sickly abandoned infant, Ryan. Despite her struggles and poverty, May decides to raise the child as her own grandson. Rate: Non-Union. $250.00 TO $500.00 PER DAY. (Please see in the character descriptions). Additional information: This is a small-scale vertical show. Shoot/Performance Date(s): April 25th-May 2nd. Shoot/Performance Location(s): Lower Mainland. Submission Deadline: April 22, 2025. Suffers silently but carries immense inner strength. Needs an actress who can carry both emotional depth and physical frailty but still exude warmth and quiet dignity.
Appearance: Clean-cut, middle-class professional. Personality: Weak-willed, status-conscious, resentful of his roots. Easily manipulated by his wife and in-laws. Should portray inner conflict, shifting from guilt to cowardice.
Appearance: Stylish, modern, sharp features. Personality: Entitled, materialistic, combative. Classic “mean daughter-in-law” with manipulative and cruel tendencies. Needs to be believable as both comically excessive and cold-hearted.
Additional Character. Appearance: Handsome, commanding, “CEO type”. Personality: Powerful, emotionally complex. Loves his family deeply. Cold to outsiders but warm to those he trusts. Needs presence and authority, with the ability to deliver dramatic emotional turns.
Appearance: Elegant, gentle, motherly. Personality: Empathetic, strong-willed, deeply emotional. She mourns her lost child but stands strong when reunited. Needs grace and maternal energy.
Appearance: Upper-middle-class retirees. Personality: Manipulative, vain, disdainful of lower-class people. Frequently belittle May. Need to portray both comedic entitlement and villainous cruelty.
