About the project: When May Collins, an elderly woman dismissed by her son and his elitist wife, is cast out of their home, she stumbles upon a sickly abandoned infant, Ryan. Despite her struggles and poverty, May decides to raise the child as her own grandson. Rate: Non-Union. May Collins: $500/day. Peter Ross: $300/day. Faye Ross: $300/day. Jason Bennett: $300/day. Lily Thompson: $300/day. Charles Reed: $250/day. Helen Reed: $250/day. Additional information: This is a small-scale vertical show. Shoot/Performance Date(s) April 25th-May 2nd. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Lower Mainland. Submission Deadline April 22, 2025. Suffers silently but carries immense inner strength. Casting Note: Needs an actress who can carry both emotional depth and physical frailty but still exude warmth and quiet dignity.
Appearance: Clean-cut, middle-class professional. Personality: Weak-willed, status-conscious, resentful of his roots. Easily manipulated by his wife and in-laws. Casting Note: Should portray inner conflict, shifting from guilt to cowardice.
Appearance: Stylish, modern, sharp features. Personality: Entitled, materialistic, combative. Classic “mean daughter-in-law” with manipulative and cruel tendencies. Casting Note: Needs to be believable as both comically excessive and cold-hearted.
Additional Character. Appearance: Handsome, commanding, “CEO type”. Personality: Powerful, emotionally complex. Loves his family deeply. Cold to outsiders but warm to those he trusts. Casting Note: Needs presence and authority, with the ability to deliver dramatic emotional turns.
Appearance: Elegant, gentle, motherly. Personality: Empathetic, strong-willed, deeply emotional. She mourns her lost child but stands strong when reunited. Casting Note: Needs grace and maternal energy.
Appearance: Upper-middle-class retirees. Personality: Manipulative, vain, disdainful of lower-class people. Frequently belittle May. Casting Note: Need to portray both comedic entitlement and villainous cruelty.
