About the project: SYNOPSIS: Step into the magical world of Oz featuring all the beloved moments and iconic songs of the classic MGM film. This timeless musical adventure will transport audiences on an adventure with Dorothy, Toto, and their unforgettable friends as they journey down the Yellow Brick Road. Don't miss this enchanting family favorite, live on stage. Additional info: Please prepare a 32-measure cut of a song in the style of the show that shows your vocal range to be heard and performed at the open call audition. Actors need to provide sheet music (piano/vocal), in the correct key, of the song they are auditioning with for the piano accompaniment. Callbacks will be by invitation only and will take place on the nights of the general auditions. Rehearsals will begin in May of 2025. Exact rehearsal schedule will be set once the availability of all actors is learned but will take place during weekday evenings and weekends (depending on role and when called). BEFORE YOU AUDITION, be advised that all actors must be available for rehearsals that are to be scheduled according to the actor's role. It is mandatory for actors to be available for all scheduled evening TECH rehearsals (July 6-11) and performances (July 12-27). Vocal Range: G3-C5 (opt. E5) A sweet, innocent young lady with a streak of boldness, outspoken and headstrong, who dearly loves her family, friends and dog, Toto. Lives on a farm in Kansas, but dreams of escaping to a far-off place where she will not get into trouble.
Emily Gale - Non-singing role. A typical, hard-working farmer's wife who is firm & no-nonsense but also warm and caring.
Henry Gale - Non-singing role. Farmer whose wife, Em, runs things; Adoring uncle to Dorothy.
Non-singing role. Traveling salesman who lives by telling fortunes; a con-man but with a good heart. / As the Wizard, seeking a performer with a strong commanding voice.
(Range: G3-C5) Good Witch of the North who is the mother figure for Munchkins and Dorothy whom she guides through Oz; delicate and graceful.
Non-singing role. Wants revenge on Dorothy for her killing her dear sister, the Wicked Witch of the East.
(Range: Bb3-F#4) (opt. Ab4) Friend to Dorothy, oh so clumsy but a terrific dancer.
(Range: Bb3-G4) Has no heart but is very caring, especially towards Dorothy.
(Range: Bb3-F4) Acts tough, but fearful self comes out in any scary situation. Good comedic timing and strong character voice needed.
(Range: Bb3-Eb4) The blustery and comical doorman of Emerald City welcomes Dorothy and her friends to Oz.
