When Mac begins to suffer from a condition known as “Idea Withdrawal,” his supervisor Marvin sends him to the one person he believes will fix the problem… a mysterious figure known as Idea Man. Set within a dystopian Hallmark-like company, the film examines the absurdity of the soulless, forced cheer of greeting cards. Rate: Non-Union. This is a volunteer project. Upon submission, selected actors will receive audition sides for a self-tape, to be submitted by April 19 at 11:59 pm. Final callbacks may be conducted in person.

Barely hanging on, Mac is a greeting card copywriter whose rising anxiety has started to manifest in weird, inconvenient ways. He tries to appear calm and capable, but beneath the surface, he’s unraveling. Surrounded by colleagues who won’t admit their ideas are terrible — and struggling to generate his own — Mac is teetering on the edge of burnout.
Overly chipper and never runs out of energy. He enjoys having power a little too much and regards his new, insignificant supervisor role with utmost seriousness and a ruthless determination to excel. Dangerously mercurial – he’ll be overly warm and seemingly empathetic one moment, then switch to menacing in an instant. He’s totally bought into the company mission and lives and breathes their values, preaching conformity.
A mysterious, cult-like corporate figurehead, eerily composed and devoid of emotion. Profoundly unsettling, he remains preternaturally calm in the face of any attempt to provoke him. Idea Man is always honest and matter-of-fact, and coldly analytical, offering only factual assessments of any given situation. Instead of second-guessing himself like other workers, he’s convinced his ideas are worthy, and therefore remains serene, almost meditative. He dresses exactly the same every day.
