"The Tempest" Stage Play Seeking Men and Women
Strong need for adult actors in upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s "The Tempest". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. Additional info: Please prepare any memorized Shakespeare sonnet for the audition, using interesting, appropriate movement of your choice that you feel fits the text and is safe for you. Your movement should be rehearsed and memorized since directors may ask you to repeat it. Please avoid movement made up on the spot or that will distract you from telling the story of your sonnet. Callbacks: Monday, May 5, 2025 from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Call backs are by invitation only. Rehearsals begin Sunday, May 25th. Rehearsals are Sunday to Thursday from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Dress Rehearsals are the week of July 7. **Please note that this schedule is subject to change based on availability of actors.** Performances: July 10-August 7 2025. Intelligent, powerful (magically and intellectually), just but capable of vengefulness, ultimately forgiving, burdened by the past, deeply loving towards his daughter, authoritative, contemplative. Father of Miranda, former Duke of Milan (usurped by his brother Antonio).
An enslaved Fairy who appears ageless, but serves Prospero for a defined period. Ethereal, playful, longs for freedom, obedient to Prospero (though sometimes resentful of servitude), capable of compassion and understanding. Servant to Prospero.
Son of the witch Sycorax. Views the island as his rightful inheritance. Resentful of Prospero, feels betrayed and enslaved, primal, driven by basic desires, capable of eloquence and a sense of injustice, easily manipulated. Described as a monster by other characters, but like The Elephant Man, could have any elevated physical characteristics, such as fitness, beauty, acrobatic or dance skill.
Grief-stricken over the apparent loss of his/her son, regal, capable of remorse and repentance, susceptible to fear and despair. King of Naples, father of Ferdinand. Brother of Sebastian.
Princely, initially grieving, falls deeply and quickly in love with Miranda, obedient and willing to work for her hand. Son of Alonso. Falls in love with Miranda.
Ambitious, treacherous, cynical, easily swayed by Antonio's scheming, lacks remorse. Brother/Sister of Alonso.
