16 roles

CALLIOPEBoth genders25-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Female-Presenting. Alto. Calliope is the personification of the Storytelling Muse from Greek mythology, and is thus the narrator of The Thirteenth Olympian. She is tasked with telling the story of Titonius, although she already knows how it ends. She is on-stage throughout the entire show, but she does not interact with any of the named characters.

TITONIUSBoth genders25-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Male-Presenting. Tenor. Titonius is the son of Ares and Aphrodite who dreams of becoming the thirteenth Olympian. To do this, he must find the Baetylus, an artifact belonging to Hades, and he is determined to succeed by doing whatever it takes.

JACKBoth genders25-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Male-Presenting. Tenor. Jack is a human who works at an accounting firm on Earth with his crush, Grace. After he gains confidence thanks to Titonius, he quits his job and confesses his romantic feelings for Grace. Similar to Titonius, Jack is on a quest to find worth within himself and unfortunate events plague him at every step.

GRACEBoth genders25-30 y.o.All ethnicities

Female-Presenting. Mezzo-soprano. Grace is a human who works alongside Jack at an accounting firm. She has feelings for Jack, but she is afraid to reveal them because she does not want to lose the friendship they’ve created. When Jack confesses his feelings, she reciprocates and is then thrust into an unexpected journey.

HADESBoth genders25-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Female-Presenting. Mezzo-soprano. Hades is the lord of all, who is portrayed as a female in my production. She reigns over every soul in the Underworld, and she does not want the Baetylus, which gives people the power to reverse death, to be on Earth. She is the antagonist of this show, and she should be played as such despite her eccentricities.

Male-Presenting. Baritone. Ares is the father of Titonius. Ares believes his son, Titonius, needs to prove his worth to earn his birthright, but he still loves his son wholeheartedly.

APHRODITEBoth genders45-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Female-Presenting. Soprano II. Aphrodite is the mother of Titonius. Aphrodite loves her son, Titonius, and does not want to risk losing him on a quest like she lost a previous son, Eryx. She therefore wants to keep her son sheltered on Mount Olympus.

Male-Presenting. Bass/Baritone. Mr. Smith is the boss at the accounting firm where Jack and Grace work. Appearing only thrice in the show, this character must have a commanding presence along with a bass voice. He is strict and is often the proverbial thorn in the side of Jack.
