Directors are currently in need of performers for production of "Five Alarm". Please, see the details below. About the play: Synopsis: A fairground in Killaloe, Ontario is home to the annual Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook-Off where Killaloe residents come each year to compete both for the honor of winning and the cash prize. The most determined of these is Ava Rose (Wayne’s daughter), who has tried (and failed) to win for sixteen years. This year, with the “help” of a new assistant (Ellen), Ava returns to battle her former childhood friend and now-rival (Connie). Unfortunately, her father’s famed chili recipe exists in only incomplete form, part of it (containing the elusive secret ingredient) having disappeared long ago under mysterious circumstances. If she can piece together her late father’s Five Alarm Chili recipe, she might also begin to piece together the mysteries of her past. Additional information: Production Dates: August 20 – September 6, 2025 at 7:30 pm (Wednesdays – Saturdays) and matinees on August 24 & 31 at 2:30 pm (Sundays). Audition Location: Ottawa. In her thirties. Killaloe born and raised. The daughter of Wayne Rose, the man that this Chili Cook-off; is named for. She has never won the cook-o; in the sixteen years it has been running, but her grandma is still holding a place on the mantle for the victory trophy to sit, right beside her father’s ashes. Ava is good-hearted, but her heart belongs to that special boy in her long ago past.
In her twenties or thirties.
Ava’s childhood friend, now rival. She’s tough. The kind of person you’d want on your side in a fight. Not actually evil, though arguably unethical, she is prone to not let the little things get in her way. Or the big things. Or really any things.
Fresh out of culinary school, he is happy as a clam in marinara sauce. You might think him simple, not hitting on all cylinders, but there is more happening under the hood than you may think.
The prodigal Killaloen, returning to be the town reporter. An on-air reporter with stage fright, his profound stutter never got him down. Well, actually it did but that is all b-b-behind him now.
