Renata is a transgender Latina woman with a complicated relationship with her mother who doesn’t fully accept her. She’s socially isolated, anxious, and trapped within a never-ending battle between her true self and who others see. (All Comfortable Performers Encouraged).
Emilio is a Latino man and a younger version of Renata. He’s depressed, repressed and doesn’t feel comfortable being himself. He is the personification of Renata’s internalized fear and doubt—a broken version of her past self who believes the world will never accept him as Renata.
