"Hadestown" Show Casting Young Performers
Young actors for production of "Hadestown". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. About the project: Hadestown is a modern re-imagining of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, set to a jazz and folk inspired soundtrack. Featuring a cast of Gods (Hades, Persephone, Hermes, The Fates) and Humans (Orpheus, Eurydice, The Workers, The Dancers), Hadestown follows two sets of couples (Orpheus & Eurydice and Hades & Persephone) as The Fates push them towards their inevitable ends. Our production will be leaning into the American Folk aesthetic of the 1940s-60s, with our inspiration being the folk singers and songwriters of that time period: Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and especially Woody Guthrie. Hadestown is significantly different than other shows that TAG has produced, in a few ways. First, it's a tragedy, which has its own set of challenges on stage. Second, it is a sung-though musical, which means that there is no dialogue...the entire show is sung, not spoken. In many ways it is more similar to an Opera than a traditional musical, in the style of Les Miserables, Evita, or Hamilton. Hadestown won eight Tony awards in 2019 including Best Musical, Best Director, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Score.
