About the project: As You Like It is a tale of love, identity, and freedom. It follows Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle’s court, accompanied by her cousin Celia and the court jester, Touchstone, to the Forest of Arden. In the forest, they encounter various characters, including the lovelorn Orlando. Rosalind, disguised as a young man named Ganymede, tests Orlando’s love for her. Through a series of comedic and romantic twists, the play explores the liberating nature of life away from society’s constraints and the joy of love in its many forms. Rate: All performers are guaranteed a $100 honorarium to cover the costs of transportation for rehearsals plus a $15 honorarium per performance. Note that this is strictly a non-union production. Additional info: Rehearsals will begin on April 28. The rehearsal schedule will be provided at the first rehearsal based on performer availability. Most likely, rehearsals will be 3 evenings a week until the last two weeks of rehearsal. The production runs June 13-June 29, 2025, with performances Thursday – Saturday at 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. No conflicts with performance dates will be permitted. A strong, young woman who’s independence and cleverness allow her to lead her cousin into the Forest of Arden under the guise of the male Ganymede. Hopelessly in love with Orlando yet still in disguise, she must test his love before she reveals herself.
Rosalind’s cousin and best friend and the daughter of Duke Frederick. Celia is more conventional than her cousin but still fiercely loyal. When her father casts out Rosalind, Celia abandons the wealth of the court and disguises herself as the poor peasant Aliena to join Rosalind in banishment.

The brave and tender youngest son of Sir Rowland de Bois whose eldest brother resents him. Orlando falls for Rosalind and can’t help but proclaim his love for her throughout the Forest of Arden.
Orlando’s oldest brother. Oliver has refused his brother a proper education and resents Orlando for his charm and good nature. Oliver is not above dishonest means to rid himself of his brother. Actor will also play Martext, a silly country vicar.
The melancholic nobleman who lives in the Forest under the usurped Duke Senior. Jaques is known for his intelligence and deep yet cynical contemplation. He recognizes “All the words a stage, And all the men and women merely players.” Actor will also play Charles, a wrestler, and Wiliam, a simple suitor of Phoebe.
Duke Frederick is the younger brother of Duke Senior. Duke Frederick usurps his older brother’s rightful position as duke, sending Duke Senior into exile. Paranoid that Duke Senior’s daughter, Rosalind, is a threat because the people like her, he banishes her too, losing his daughter at the same time. Banished by his paranoid brother, Duke Frederick, Senior now lives in the Forest of Arden where he embraces nature as his new teacher.
The court jester accustomed to a life of status, he joins Rosalind and Celia in their banishment though frequently laments the country life. His quick wit and intelligence often put him at odds with the characters who understand that he is mocking them.
A rural young woman who does not return Silvius’s love but is immediately infatuated with Rosalind’s male disguise. Actor will also play Amiens, a good natured follower of Duke Senior who savors his time in the Forest of Arden and enjoys the songs he and the Duke’s followers write. Musical ability preferred (both singing and instrumental).
A young shepherd who is madly in love with Phebe. Not deterred by the unrequited nature of his love, Silvius is steadfastly doing whatever Phebe commands of him. Actor will also play Dennis (Oliver’s servant).
An older shepherd who attempts to teach Silvius the ways of love. Though he is rarely listened to, Corin is quite wise. Actor will also play Adam (Orlando’s faithful servant), Hymen (God of Marriage), and Jaques de Bois (messenger sent with news of Duke Frederick’s abdication).
A pleasant goatherd who agrees to marry Touchstone. Actor will also play LeBeau (a court gossip), and potentially a few extra roles if needed.
