About the project: It is the Summer of 1903 and the Smith family eagerly awaits the arrival of the World’s Fair in their very own St. Louis. Over the course of a year, the family experiences romance, heartache, troubles, and opportunity in the same way they always have; together. Told through a series of seasonal vignettes, this heartfelt musical features a multi-generational cast and well-beloved tunes such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “The Trolley Song,” “The Boy Next Door,” “Meet Me In St Louis,” and many, many more! This show is perfect for all ages, and will have you laughing, crying, and feeling right at home with the Smiths, when you meet us in St. Louis! Additional info: Note: The age listed for most is the character’s STAGE AGE. This means that actor need not be that age, only able to portray that range while on stage. No need to bring prepared material; readings from the script will be used. * denotes those auditioning/considered for this character may be asked to attend callbacks, on April 13. Directors will notify you if you are asked to attend the callbacks. Callbacks will be held Sunday, April 13 at 1 pm. Notes about callbacks: This year directors will be holding callbacks to give auditionees more time with the material and allow for some chemistry reads between the family. Baritone. The father of the Smith family. Equally devoted to his work as a lawyer and his role as head of the house. Struggles to connect with his children, although beneath his businessman exterior, lies a heart of gold.
Mezzo. The gracious and charming mother of the Smith family. Leads with a firm, yet gentle manner. Keeps the family together, through thick and thin.
Tenor. The oldest of the Smith children. A Princeton man, embarking on his academic career. Boyish and charming, he takes his responsibility as a brother to heart. (Stage Age: 20)
Mezzo/Soprano. Beautiful and possessing a spark of je ne sais quoi. Concerned with keeping up with the trends and remaining an elusive mystery to her adoring suitors, although her temper can get in the way. A loving sister. (Stage Age: 19)
Alto/Mezzo. A headstrong, hopeless romantic, whose fanciful notions of romance can’t be disturbed. At times impulsive and brash, and a fierce protector of those she loves. (Stage Age: 17)
Baritone. Mrs. Smith’s father. Is a Civil War veteran. A spry gentleman who has remained a child at heart. Will do anything to keep his grandchildren smiling. (Stage Age: 60+)
Alto. The Smith’s cook and housemaid. Irish, good-humored, and equally coarse and loving. She has a slight Irish brogue. Is practically one of the family herself, and the Smiths depend on her as such.
Baritone/Tenor. The quintessential boy next door. Handsome and athletic, and a little shy. Another Princeton man, he is Lon’s friend as well as the Smiths’ next door neighbor. He falls in love with Esther.
Baritone. Rose’s suitor. Is a spiffy, city boy from New York. Sincere in his affections although a bit clumsy in expressing himself. (Stage Age: 22)
Lon’s beau. A sophisticated and charming lady with high standards. (Stage Age: 20)
