Open Roles in a Short Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking cast to play roles in a short film. More details are below. About the project: A weary chef and a mysterious drifter form an unspoken bond over fleeting bench encounters sharing soup, poetry, and quiet stillness. Rate: Unpaid. Non-Union passion project. Additional information: Location: Vancouver, BC. Shoots week of May 19th, 2025 (tentative). No previous acting experience is required — directors welcome anyone who identifies with the story to audition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: April 13th, 2025. When applying, please submit a self-tape.

Lead Role. Ethnicity: Open (but preferably Asian, mixed, or ambiguous ethnicity). Language: English & Mandarin. Experience as a dancer/ballet (preferred). Once a ballet dancer, now a restless chef in her father's restaurant, craving change in a kitchen that refuses to evolve. A smoker, a talker and a fierce personality.
Lead Role. Ethnicity: South Asian (Pakistani preferred). Language: English & Urdu (preferred). A quiet and reserved yet dignified man in a suit. Once a dreamer, now an observer, he writes poetry on scraps of paper, longing to be heard but fearing rejection.
Supporting Role. Ethnicity: East Asian, preferably Chinese. Language: English & Mandarin. A hardened but devoted man, shaped by years of sacrifice. His love is shown through action, not words. Discipline in the kitchen, expectation in silence. Routine is everything.
