LEAD. An ego-driven and self-concerned physicist who always has to be right. Spent his life obsessed with becoming “one of the greats” of history, but died right before his big break in the science world. Infuriating and generally pretty insufferable, he must learn to care about the other souls at the Retreat.
PRINCIPAL Milo’s personal guide through The Retreat, an experienced, paternal figure that keeps up but doesn’t tolerate Milo’s BS. Due to a traumatic past in life, he feels he cannot leave The Retreat and stays out of guilt for what he views as a life of selfishness. He’s a tired guy. A painter. A family man. A guilty man.
PRINCIPAL Overly enthusiastic receptionist who runs this chapter of the Retreat and explains the system to Milo. She pairs up souls with guides, and becomes a friend and empathetic ear to Jon. She’s been here longer than Jon: they are both souls that stayed to work at The Retreat because they felt they couldn't leave.
SUPPORTING. Milo’s girlfriend and one of his only consistent friends throughout his life, who Milo ends up significantly hurting through his lack of affection and work-focused ambition.
