Actors for "Interior Chinatown" Scene Workshop Presentation
Seeking actors to participate in a scene workshop presentation from the novel "Interior Chinatown". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. Rate: Each actor will be compensated with a stipend of $375, including a free copy of the novel. Additional info: This scene runs approximately 30 minutes. All actors are required to perform off-book. All actors are encouraged to participate in a post-show discussion. Non union. WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a 3-5 minutes monologue from contemporary materials of your choice. Rehearsals: Tuesdays - Thursdays 6:30 - 9:30pm, April 1 - 17 *Rehearsal schedule is subject to change. Performances: Friday, April 18 at 7pm & Saturday, April 19 at 3pm. The protagonist. Chinese American. Ambitious yet quiet, struggles to see himself beyond the roles imposed on him.
Willis’s brother and his defense lawyer. Chinese American. Eloquent, enjoys banter, and fits the “model minority” stereotype more than Willis.
Presides over the courtroom. Easily annoyed, serious, and authoritative.
The prosecuting attorney. Professional, eloquent, and quick to jump to conclusions.
A detective. Charming, well-built, confident, and slightly authoritative. A strict, no-nonsense Black detective.
