Casting Performers for "Wizard of Oz" Play
Looking to cast male and female talent for the “Wizard of Oz” show. See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: SYNOPSIS: A young heroine named Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept away in a tornado and end up in a wonderful land called Oz where she embarks on a journey to see the Wizard of Oz in order to get home. Along the way, she makes friends with a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a rusting Tinman who wants a heart, and a cowardly Lion who is looking to find courage. The four are “off to see the Wizard”, all the while avoiding the Wicked Witch of the West who is after Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Additional info: Please plan to sing about 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Please bring your sheet music and an accompanist will be provided, or you can sing to music on your phone. CALLBACKS: Tuesday, March 25 beginning at 6 p.m. Callbacks will be posted by 10 pm. on March 22. Callback music will be posted in early March. CALLBACK PROCEDURE: The callback information will list actors and the role or roles for which you are being considered and the time for your callback.Music and dialogue you will use to prepare for your callback will be posted early March. You may also be asked to do cold readings with a variety of actors during the callback process. Neither music nor lines need to be memorized. More extensive choreography will be a part of your callback. Please wear appropriate shoes. REHEARSALS: Tuesday, Thursday 6-9:30 p.m. Saturdays 9-1 p.m. beginning March 27. Music rehearsals for leads will be scheduled for Wednesdays in April. The ensemble will learn their music on Saturdays. FIRST CAST MEETING: Thursday, March 27, 6 pm. You will receive your script, a schedule, information about What’s App, and be measured for costumes. PERFORMANCES: July 5-21. No performances on Sundays or Tuesdays. See the attachment for details.
