"PRINCE OF EGYPT" High tenor (Bb2-A4) Begins as a charming, almost reckless prince, enjoying his privileged life. The discovery of his Hebrew heritage shatters his identity, forcing him on a journey of profound transformation. He struggles with doubt and anger, but ultimately embraces his destiny as a liberator. Needs to portray a wide range of emotions, from playful arrogance to deep spiritual conviction.
"PRINCE OF EGYPT" Tenor (Bb2-A4) Driven by a desire for his father's approval, he grapples with insecurity and the weight of his future role. His love for Moses is genuine, but overshadowed by rivalry. As Pharaoh, he becomes increasingly hardened, making tragic choices. Must show the evolution from a loving brother to a conflicted ruler.

"RENT" A musician/singer-songwriter who is a recovering drug addict living with HIV. Roger has mourned members of his community and is grieving the recent death of his girlfriend. Roger longs for connection and meaning through his music. He is roommates with Mark in an abandoned loft space. He falls for his neighbor, Mimi, but finds it difficult to open up. "RENT" A filmmaker and video artist who constantly seeks validation. He connects deeply with his roommate Roger and longs for the days when his group of friends were closer. In his struggle to find his place in the world, he often finds himself on the outside looking in. Mark comes from privilege but wants to understand his responsibility to himself and his community. "RENT" A professor of technology at NYU that is grounded in anarchy and liberation, Tom Collins is smart, fiercely kind, and the backbone of his friend group. His chosen family is lifted by his positive and nurturing spirit. His warmth and empathic presence allow him to invite his friends to examine personal accountability. Tom used to be a roommate in the loft with Mark and Roger. He is also living with HIV. Vocal range bottom: F#2

"RENT" A public interest lawyer who always fights for the underdog, Joanne comes from a conservative upper-class family. An out and proud lesbian, Joanne is smart, purposeful, and grounded. She is dating Maureen Johnson. Joanne’s connection to Maureen brings her into an established chosen family where she discovers the power of being celebrated in your own community. "RENT" A vibrant street musician who radiates light! Angel moves through the world as a gender-nonconforming person who is living with HIV. Angel has an incredible spirit with a gift for inspiring human connection all while being a street fashion icon. Angel is magnetic and rooted in living for the moment. "RENT" A dancer and sex worker, Mimi is determined to live in the moment. She is a drug addict who is living with HIV—a young Latina woman on a journey to find who she is and what she is fighting for. Mimi’s addiction and intentions are often at odds. "RENT" Maureen is a performance artist whose spirit is full of passion and anarchy, both of which she pours into her art no matter the medium. Her energy is intoxicating. She’s a former roommate of Roger, Mark, Collins and Benny. Maureen is queer and openly dating Joanne after recently breaking up with Mark. "CHILDREN OF EDEN" (G3-A5) Represents divine authority, but also paternal love. He grapples with the complexities of free will and the pain of seeing his children make mistakes. An older-looking, impressive man. A true father figure.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (A3-A5) Adam: Represents innocence and the loss of it. Noah: Represents duty and obedience. Both men are forced to make hard choices. Adam: Eve's bright and childlike partner. He is initially devout to Father and loving to his wife & children. Later plagued by guilt. Hard-working and reserved. Noah: rough but simple. He is unsophisticated and shrewd, but also warm and loyal. He builds the ark to save his family and honor Father.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (G3-A5) Eve: Represents curiosity and the desire for knowledge. Mama: Represents nurturing and the strength of a mother’s love. Eve: curious and questioning, smart and excited. Chose an imperfect life of knowledge over a perfect life of innocence. Mama: Noah's wife and inherently motherly. She possesses a gentle strength, is reassuring, and serves as the mediator of the family.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (B3-A5) Cain: Abel's older, adventurous brother. Follows in his mother's footsteps and longs for the companionship of other humans. He is strong, stubborn, and independent. Japeth: in love with Yonah and is willing to sacrifice his life to be with her. He is Noah's youngest son. Clever, rebellious, stubborn.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (B3-G5) Abel: Cain's younger and more conservative brother who follows the "rules". He chooses his parents over Cain. Ham: Japeth's middle brother and Aphra's husband. He is not as docile as Japheth, nor as hot headed as Shem. Looks up to and follows Shem's lead.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (B3-E5) Seth: Adam and Eve's third son and their family's second chance at life. He is innocently adventurous. Shem: the oldest of Noah's three sons. Married to Aysha, he is impulsive, strong, and hot-tempered.
"CHILDREN OF EDEN" (B3-E5) Ham's pregnant wife. Longs for the flood to be over and is constantly worrying.

"SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD" Vocal range: D3-C5 Man 1 is an optimistic and vibrant character throughout the show. His primary songs, “On the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship, 1492,” “The Steam Train,” “King of the World,” and “Flying Home” all portray characters in uncertain and oppressive circumstances, but who have the ability to lift up himself and those around him through faith and determination. He is a strong tenor, with a lot of personality.
"SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD" Vocal range: F4-Ab4 Ethnicity: All ethnicities Man 2 is a reserved and mature character, whose main songs include “She cries,” “The River Won’t Flow,” “The World was Dancing” and “I’d Give it All for You.” Throughout the show, Man 2 portrays characters whose life experiences have made them second guess their choices and whose fears have held them back from a more fulfilled life. 1 He is a strong bari-tenor that can act very well.
"SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD" Vocal range: G3-F5 Ethnicity: All ethnicities Woman 1 is a headstrong and hopeful character. Her primary songs are “I’m Not Afraid of Anything,” “Christmas Lullaby” and “I’d Give It All for You.” Through the course of the show, she portrays a young woman of innocence who uses her strength to persevere through her hardships, whether it is being left at the altar or an unplanned pregnancy. She is a belter with a strong mix.
"SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD" Vocal range: F3-F5 Ethnicity: All ethnicities Woman 2 is a strong and often comedic character whose main songs are “Just One Step,” “Stars and the Moon,” “Surabaya Santa” and “The Flagmaker, 1775.” All of her characters portray women who feel like their lives did not end up the way they wanted. Many of her roles use melodrama and ridiculousness to show her dissatisfaction and longing for a different life. She is a strong comedic actress, with a big belt.
