About the project: Logline: A wry shopkeeper tries to win over the girl of his dreams in 1940s Appalachia- only to realize she’s already engaged. Rate: (Non-Union, Non-Paid) Meals, Copy, Credit. Additional info: DATES: Filming will commence April 11-13th 2025 in Alpharetta, GA with two rehearsals/fittings in March based on availability. Lead. Nick is a clever and snarky shopkeeper with a chip on his shoulder. He struggles between confessing his love for Paulina or resigning himself to loss, which he knows too well. Walks with a limp. Mountain dialect preferred.
Supporting. Ms. Mourning is an opinionated upper-class woman who interjects herself into Paulina’s affairs. She fights to uphold societal expectations while being the most glamorous person in town. Southern dialect preferred.
Supporting. Army Private. A charming and refined Northerner in the South preparing to be shipped overseas during World War II. His cool and optimistic detachment presents a challenge for Paulina. Trans-Atlantic dialect preferred.
Day Player. A newly widowed mother preparing for her husband’s funeral. Must be confident playing dark comedy. Southern dialect preferred.
