About the project: Synopsis: 9 to 5 is based on the 1980 movie of the same name, and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. The show is set in the late 1970s and follows three women, Violet, Doralee, and Judy, who team up to overcome their sexist and egotistical boss, Franklin Hart. Tired of their mundane routine and mistreatment in the office, they hatch a plan to turn the tables and give their workplace a much-needed dose of justice. 9 to 5 is a celebration of friendship, empowerment, and the pursuit of a fair and equal working environment. Additional info: What to Expect at Auditions: Please come prepared with 32 bars of a song that best compliments your personality and voice. If you would like to sing from the show you can, but this is not required. Please bring sheet music or a backing track already transposed to your key. Speaker will be provided (make sure track is downloaded on your phone - do not depend on Wifi). Please no acapella auditions. Dress appropriately (including shoes) for a dance audition. Call backs: Sunday, March 9th at 1 pm. Rehearsal Expectations: Rehearsals begin Tuesday March 18th. They will typically rehearse M-Th 6:30p-9p until tech week. They will have two mandatory Dance Intensive weekends March 29th-30th and April 4th-6th. At first meeting you will receive your schedule for the run of the show. Please bring ALL conflicts from March 18th to show close with you to auditions. Conflicts will play a role in cast selection. Mandatory rehearsals begin May 19th. Tech Monday will be May 26th (Memorial Day). They will start early afternoon, but have no rehearsal on Sunday May 25th. A busty, blonde bombshell. She is a kind, sweet and charming Texas gal. Very much in love with her husband Dwayne. She’s sharp as a tack and will not put up with any nonsense. She is an eternal optimist, warm with a ready smile. Voice: Alto Range: E3-D5

The “Big Boss” at Consolidated Industries. He spends more time trying to seduce Doralee than he does working. A former high school athlete, he has a very high opinion of himself. He is sauvé, but smarmy and very egotistical. A Bert Reynolds type. Voice: Baritone Range: C3-G4
