"Sweet Home Alabama" The Musical Casting Actors

About the project: Seeking strong country/pop and musical theatre singers, dancers and character actors. "Sweet Home Alabama: The Musical" is a country music jukebox musical based on the 2002 Touchstone Pictures produced movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas and Patrick Dempsey with direction by Andy Tennant, and an original book by Douglas J Eboch and C. Jay Cox. Basic Synopsis: A young woman who has reinvented herself as a New York City socialite must return home to Alabama to obtain a divorce from her husband after seven years of separation. Melanie Carmichael, an up and rising fashion designer in New York, has gotten almost everything she wished for since she was little. She has a great career and the JFK-like fiancée who happens to be the Mayor of New York City. But when he proposes to her, she doesn't forget about her family back down South. More importantly, her husband back there, who refuses to divorce her ever since she sent him divorce papers seven years ago. To set matters straight, she decides to go to the south on a quick trip and make him sign the papers. When things don't turn out the way she planned, she realizes that what she had before in the south was far more perfect than the life she had in New York City. Rate: All roles are paid. Additional info: Please prepare a short comedic monologue and a country or similar type song. Digital tracks that can be played live are preferred. This is NOT karaoke; directors are not looking for your best country star impersonation. They ARE looking for singers and dancers that can make the music come to life in a new theatrical / story telling way. Resume and headshot is encouraged, but not required. Rehearsals begin March 10, 2025 and the production will run May 13 - 26, 2025 (you must have full availability during the May run, specific performance dates and times to be announced on March 28, 2025). Expect rehearsals to take place 3 - 4 week nights per week Monday thru Thursday evenings.
