A local farmer living just outside Salem and Elizabeth Proctor’s husband. Stern and harsh tongued, John despises hypocrisy but struggles with his hidden sin—his affair with Abigail Williams. His hesitation to expose Abigail as a fraud stems from his fear of ruining his reputation.
