About the project: Based on a story in The Weekly World News, BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL is a musical comedy/horror show about a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. For lack of a better solution, the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian, Dr. Parker, where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family and taught to act like a “normal” boy by the veterinarian’s wife, Meredith, and teenage daughter, Shelley. Bat Boy is happy with his new life, but he naively tries to fit in with the narrow-minded people of Hope Falls and a chain of events is set in motion that will reveal the shocking story of Bat Boy’s unholy origin. With a beat-driven rock score that pays homage to the rock musicals of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, Bat Boy provides a compelling theatrical metaphor for the dangers of prejudice, intolerance, and provincialism. Additional info: Callbacks by invitation only will be held Sunday, February 23rd from 6:00-8:30pm. Rehearsals: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-9:30pm, Sundays 5:00-8:00pm; Starting 3/2.
