Casting Actors and Tappers for Production of "Machinal"
"Machinal" seeking actors & tappers. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: A brand new production of Sophie Treadwell's 1928 play MACHINAL. Based on the Ruth Snyder case - the first woman sent to the electric chair, this piece will feature a small ensemble, with each actor playing multiple roles. Tap dance and practical rhythmic foley will feature heavily in the soundscape of the piece. Seeking actor/rhythmists and actor/tappers for an ensemble-driven production of this groundbreaking expressionist drama. Within the company, directors will be looking for certain performers who shine as actors and are rhythmists second and other performers who are primarily tappers/rhythmists with a secondary focus in acting. Rate: Rate of pay depending on Union Status for each version of this production. Apx $700/week. Additional info: Collaborative spirit and sense of rhythm required for all. Non-traditional and gender-expansive casting for all roles. All ethnicities, genders, and ages strongly encouraged to audition. Callbacks to take place Feb 6th, 7th, & 8th from 10 am-1 pm. This production will feature an unconventional schedule with a 4-week rehearsal process March 3-29, followed by preview performances at the NEW YORK FRINGE FESTIVAL @ Wild Project (April 2 - 18), before heading back into rehearsal April 28 for an Off-Broadway run in May/June.
