Dance Opportunities in "9 to 5" Show
Looking for singers, dancers, and performers for the "9 to 5" musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Auditions will consist of 3 parts; Singing, Choreography, and Reading: Singing - Please prepare a 1-minute section of a song (musical theatre genre, please!). You may bring sheet music (we will have a pianist) or a backing track on your own device (we will have a Bluetooth speaker available). No a cappella, please. Choreo - You will be taught a simple combination at the audition and will do it for the audition team as a group. No advance preparation is necessary. Reading - You will be asked to read a couple of scenes from the script along with the others in your time slot. Advance preparation is not necessary, but we highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the storyline and the characters in the show. Show Dates are April 17, 18, and 19. Lead, Alto. The company's Head Secretary and Mr. Hart's Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother (a widow) and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious.
Lead, Alto. A young, sexy, smart, spitfire who works at Mr. Hart's office. She is proof that there is more to a woman than just her looks.
Lead, Mezzo. The "new" girl at the firm, she has been burned by her husband's affair and is searching for personal empowerment. Insecure, determined, and hopeful.
Lead, Baritone. One of the firm's executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is capable of faking charm but usually shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss.
Supporting, Alto or mezzo with belt. The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval.
Supporting, Tenor. A handsome, young office accountant. Genuine, kind and totally smitten with Violet.
Supporting. A young and vibrant secretary in Hart's office.
Supporting. A secretary in Hart's office with a tendency to gossip.
Supporting. A secretary in Hart's office with a tendency to drink.
Supporting, Tenor. Doralee's attractive, buff husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits.
Supporting, non-singing. Judy's slimey, soon-to-be, ex-husband. An average guy, he is sporting a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago.
Featured, non-singing. Franklin Hart's boss and Chairman of the Board. A good man, who may be wiser to Hart's ways than he lets on.
Featured, non-singing. Franklin Hart's wife, clueless to her husband's true nature.
