Casting Call for Musical "Working"
Open auditions for early spring production of "Working", a musical. Seeking cast. Please see more info below. About the project: SYNOPSIS: Based on Studs Terkel’s 1974 best-selling book of interviews with American workers, “Working” paints a vivid portrait of those we so often take for granted: the school teacher, the waitress, the telephone operator, the mason, the millworker, the housewife, to name just a few. Nominated for a Tony award in 1978, this production of “Working” has since been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by several notable songwriters. Additional info: Please note roles listed without vocal ranges do not have featured solos; however, all cast members will sing in group numbers, and should be comfortable doing so. Some non-singing roles may be substituted with local worker interviews. HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION: Those auditioning are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of a song. An accompanist will be provided. Please no a cappella or taped music for auditions. Each participant will also read from the script. WHAT TO BRING TO THE AUDITION: Please provide a current resume and a complete list of conflicts for the period of February 18 through April 27. A head shot is not required. Regarding conflicts, please remember vacations and holiday schedules before auditioning, as they may be a factor in the casting process. REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will typically be held in the evening, with some weekend rehearsals added as they get closer to opening. Further rehearsal details will be determined after auditions.
