About the project: Alina is a young woman who rides the bus daily and spends her time drawing in a notebook. Her notebook contains drawings of two men: Gustavo, a centaur, and Enrique, a merman, who both speak to her in her imagination. She also begins communicating with a stranger through sticky notes left in the seat-back pocket of the bus. The sticky note correspondence starts with Alina responding to a note asking, "If love is so amazing, why is it so hard to find?" with "Welcome to the club". The stranger responds to her note, stating that he's "supposed to be the only hopeless person leaving notes on public transport," and she responds to that. The notes continue, with the stranger eventually suggesting that they exchange phone numbers instead of wasting paper on sticky notes. Alina excitedly gives her phone number on a note. Meanwhile, Alina's roommate, Carly, brings home a stranger, Noah, who lives in the same building. Noah and Alina have an initial, awkward conversation, but they have a brief connection when Noah brings up Alina's Lorax pajamas. Later, Alina receives a package addressed to Noah, and she takes it to his apartment. She sees that it's a Lorax sign, and their connection deepends. After a bit of time passes, Alina is frustrated that she hasn't received a text from her sticky note correspondent. Her imaginary friends, Gustavo and Enrique, commiserate with her, claiming she deserves better. Alina is upset and leaves her apartment where she finds Noah putting up his Lorax sign and they start to talk. Noah asks Alina out on a date, and she accepts. They end up going to Finnegan's, a local bar, and to get there, they take the bus. On the bus, Noah subtly checks the seat-back pocket, and Alina catches him. It is implied that Noah was the one leaving the notes. Alina smiles and holds his hand as the bus drives off. Please apply if interested.
