About the project: This comedic drama follows Rob, a detective at rock bottom who is offered one last chance at career redemption: investigating a local disco crimelord alongside his apprentice, Marcus. As the two pursue the lead, Rob’s familial connections to the case are unveiled, with the prime suspect, Disco Dan, being Rob’s absent father. Now forced to confront the past that led to his mid-life crisis, the line between ally and enemy shifts to be as thin as the job title, or dance-off demands. Rate: Non-Union. N/A, but lunch/crafty are guaranteed. Additional information: Shoot/Performance Date(s) March 22nd - March 24th. Shoot/Performance Location(s) North Vancouver/West Vancouver. Directors request that all auditions be submitted via audition tape. There will be no stunts or intimacy, although some actors will need to learn dance choreography. Rob is a detective who has fallen from grace; now performing his job with utter incompetency. When the rug is pulled from underneath him during the case that will determine the future of his career, his complacency in his mediocrity and familial past is challenged.
A young, suave, and egotistical detective, relatively new to the field and being apprenticed by the older, more experienced Rob. The only catch: Marcus is actively sabotaging Rob’s asleep-at-the-wheel work ethic to steal his position at the police department.
Broad, wide, and commanding, Chief Hardy leads the Seattle Police Department with high expectations. Beneath the hardened exterior, he has a supportive outlook on his colleagues and truthfully, cannot wait to retire.
After becoming a father to Rob in his twenties and leaving his family behind, Dan built an unremarkable criminal career. Now in the 70s, he exploits the cultural power of disco as a front for his drug trafficking business, earning the title of ‘Disco’ Dan.
