About the project: Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s musical, Children of Eden casts the beloved biblical stories of Genesis through the personal lens of family. Children of Eden starts with the very beginning: the creation of the universe. Father breathes life into his children, Adam and Eve, and learns that the hardest part of being a loving Father is letting go. It’s a lesson that translates into the parenting of Cain, Abel, and Seth -- and is reiterated once again as Noah parents his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. This joyous and inspiring musical celebrates the difficulty of choice, the importance of passion, the value of questioning, and the pain in allowing those you love to take risks and face the consequences. Additional info: There will possibly be callbacks for specific characters on Wednesday, February 12th from 6:00-8:30pm. Rehearsals will typically be Mondays through Thursdays, and occasionally Saturdays, from 6:00-9:00 pm (until closer to show time). The official rehearsal schedule will be created with cast conflicts in mind, so please plan to list any and all conflicts on your audition form in advance. Every featured role below will also be ensemble (except Father). You are also welcome to audition to solely be part of the ensemble of Storytellers! They literally move the story along through song. Directors would argue that they are the most important role in this show. The harmonies are incredible, and they are on stage 75% of the show.

Range: A3 – A5 Eve's bright and childlike partner. He is initially devout to Father and loving to his wife and children. Later plagued by guilt. Hard-working and reserved.
Range: G3 – A5 Curious and questioning, smart and excited. Chooses an imperfect life of knowledge over a perfect life of innocence.
Range: B3 – A5 Abel's older, adventurous brother. Follows in his mother's footsteps and longs for the companionship of other humans. He is strong, stubborn, and independent.
Range: B3 – G5 Cain's younger and more conservative brother who follows the "rules". He chooses his parents over Cain.
Range: A3 – A5 Rough but simple. He is unsophisticated and shrewd, but also warm and loyal. He builds the ark to save his family and honor Father.
Range: G3 – A5 Noah's wife and inherently motherly. She possesses a gentle strength, is reassuring, and serves as the mediator of the family.
Range: B3 – E5 The oldest of Noah's three sons. Married to Aysha, he is impulsive, strong, and hot tempered.
Range: B3 – G5 Noah’s middle son and Aphra's husband. He is not as docile as Japheth, nor as hot headed as Shem. Looks up to and follows Shem's lead.
Range: B3 – A5 In love with Yonah and is willing to sacrifice his life to be with her. He is Noah's youngest son. Clever, rebellious, stubborn.
Range: G3 – G5 Noah's servant who falls in love with Japheth and becomes his wife. A descendent of Cain. She is strong, yet humble, kind, and smart.
Range: B3 – E5 Shem's wife. Cynically bitter and constantly accusing those aboard the ark.
Range: B3 – E5 Ham's pregnant wife. Longs for the flood to be over and is constantly worrying.
Five-person jazz ensemble. Crafty and manipulative. They convince Eve to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, breaking the one rule Father gave them.
