About the project: Based on the popular 1984 movie, Footloose follows Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves to the small town of Bomont, where dancing and rock music are banned. Ren and his friends take a stand against this oppressive law, fighting to bring dance back to the town. Featuring an unforgettable soundtrack with hits like “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and the title song “Footloose,” the show offers a fast-paced, exciting experience with a timeless message of courage, freedom, and the power of music and dance. Additional info: Looking for strong singers, dancers, and actors who are ready to bring this fun and energetic musical to life. What to Prepare: Vocal Audition: Please prepare a song in the style of Footloose (pop/rock). An accompanist will be provided, so bring sheet music in the correct key. Dance Audition: Be prepared to learn a short dance combination. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Acting Audition: You will also read from the script during the audition. Rehearsals will be held in Centreville, MD, beginning January 27 and continuing until Tech Week (March 30 – April 3, 2025). Then the Footloose production will move in Church Hill.
