Auditions open for men and women in the musical production "Hairspray." Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Hairspray is a high-energy, heartwarming musical set in 1962 Baltimore. Tracy Turnblad, a plus-sized teenager with big dreams and even bigger hair, earns a spot on the popular Corny Collins Show. As she dances her way into stardom, Tracy sets out to fight for racial integration on the show, proving that everyone deserves a chance to shine. Filled with catchy songs, electrifying dances, and a powerful message of acceptance and equality, Hairspray is a celebration of love, individuality, and the unstoppable beat of progress. Additional info: Please come with a prepared song— Please bring a Karaoke version of your song on a Bluetooth-accessible device OR sheet music for the accompanist. We will have a Bluetooth speaker on hand. No monologues are necessary. Auditionees will learn a short movement combination, which will be sent out via email prior to the audition. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended.
