Performers Needed for 2025 Season Shows
The company is holding auditions for 2025 Season Shows and looking for performers, please see the details below. About the project: 1. "Next to Normal" 2. "Ripcord" 3. "Anything Goes" 4. "The Cake" 5. "A Little Night Music" 6. "Washington Place" 7. "LIZZIE" Additional info: You only need to attend one audition day. When you arrive, you will check in at the HART Main Stage Lobby. There, you will receive an audition number and directors will ask you to fill out one audition form for each director you plan to audition for. This form asks things like what shows you are available for, any known out of town dates, roles you are interested in (its fine to say ANY!), and what vocal part you usually sing if applicable (SATB). It also gives you a space to tell them anything that will help them support you during the audition and rehearsal process and a space to list relevant experience. If you have a headshot and resume, please bring a copy for each director you plan to audition for. If not, please list relevant experience on your audition form There will be maps posted around both buildings showing you exactly where each shows auditions are located. Each play or musical gets their own space to hold auditions or call backs. There is also a help desk in the Main Stage Lobby and right outside the Fangmeyer building entrance to help answer any questions. Groups of 5 will go into the Main Auditorium to audition for all 4 musical directors at once. Directors will have an accompanist, so please bring clearly marked sheet music. You can either prepare 1 32-bar cut of a song OR two 16-bar cuts that show contrasting styles. This is typically around one minute to one and a half minutes of music total. After your group has finished their auditions, you will be escorted back to the call back board. This board will list your number under directors who want to see more of you later that evening or if they need you to attend the dance or movement call. Once you have completed the musical part of your audition, you are free to go to any of the 3 play auditions that you want to attend. Once everyone interested has completed their musical auditions, the movement and dance call will begin. Helpers will go around and make sure all auditionees are aware that dance call is about to begin, so don’t worry about missing it. This year, there will be a Movement call, with options to demonstrated advanced movement, followed by a Tap Call. This takes place on the main stage. You are allowed to change clothes for the dance call if you would like. If you plan to audition for a tap role in Anything Goes, please bring tap shoes. Directors plan to post the tap dance call in January BEFORE auditions so that you have time to learn it. After dance and movement call, actors who received a “call back” can go to see each musical director to continue their audition. If auditioning for Plays only: Once you have checked in and filled out your audition forms, you can go to each plays audition room to complete your auditions with them. See the attachment for the show info. Please apply if interested.

"Next to Normal" (needs to believably have a 20 year old child), Mezzo-Soprano G3 – F#5 Fierce, Sexy, Strong, Funny, Deeply Troubled, Fighting for her life. Diana is the heart of the Goodman family and the emotional epicenter of the show. Struggling with bipolar disorder and a history of trauma, she’s fiercely loving but deeply fractured. Diana’s journey is one of raw vulnerability, resilience, and the search for stability in a world that feels uncontrollable.
"Next to Normal" (must believably have a 20 year old child), Tenor/Baritone Ab2 – A4 Optimistic, Patient, Coming apart at the seams, Often wears a Facade, Loving Husband and Father. Dan is Diana’s devoted husband and a man doing everything he can to hold his family together. He is steadfast, patient, and loving, but also quietly unraveling under the weight of being his wife’s caretaker. Beneath his calm exterior lies a deep well of grief and a longing for normalcy.
"Next to Normal" Mezzo-Soprano/Belter G3-G5 Natalie is Diana and Dan’s overachieving, perfectionist daughter. On the surface, she’s the “perfect” teenager: smart, driven, and ambitious. But she’s also deeply resentful of the attention her mother’s illness demands and the continued attention that her brother gets, leaving her feeling overlooked and unloved.
"Next to Normal" Male Presenting, Tenor B2-C5 Gabe is the charming, confident, and magnetic son of Diana and Dan. He appears perfect—every parent’s dream child—but he is not what he seems. Gabe must be both lovable and slightly scary, he is haunting this family because [[SPOILER ALERT]] Gabe has been dead for 16 years. Gabe’s presence in the story is a poignant and powerful reminder of the family’s unresolved grief.
"Next to Normal" Male Presenting or Non-Binary, Tenor G#2-B4 Henry is Natalie’s boyfriend, a laid-back and compassionate stoner with a heart of gold. He sees through Natalie’s guarded exterior and genuinely cares for her, providing a rare source of stability and kindness in her life. This role needs an actor who can bring warmth and charm, along with a strong tenor voice for sweet, heartfelt moments of connection. *intimacy with Natalie including, hand holding, hugging, and kissing
"Next to Normal" Baritone/Tenor A2-A4 The rockstar, the all mighty. Dr. Madden is Diana’s primary psychiatrist, confident and professional, but also caring and determined to help her. He brings a steadying presence to Diana’s chaos, causing Diana to occasionally fantasize about him. When he suggested electro-shock therapy, it turns the Goodman’s world upside down. The actor also doubles as Dr. Fine, Diana’s less personal and more clinical doctor in Act 2.
"Next to Normal" 2+ Ensemble/Understudies Searching for an understudy for Natlaie, Diana, Gabe/Henry, and Dan/Dr. Ideally these people would be involved in ensemble moments or in a backstage or artistic position.
"Ripcord" Abby is sharp-tongued, cynical, and fiercely independent. She has built a life of solitude at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility and will do anything to keep it that way. Beneath her tough exterior is a woman grappling with pain and loss, though she hides it well behind her biting humor and no-nonsense attitude. This role demands excellent comedic timing and the ability to bring depth to a seemingly guarded character.
"Ripcord" Marilyn is Abby’s polar opposite: warm, sunny, and endlessly optimistic. She’s determined to see the good in people and refuses to let Abby’s prickly nature dampen her spirits. Marilyn is not as naive as she might seem—she’s wily, persistent, and more than capable of matching Abby’s schemes. This role requires an actor who can balance charm and wit with moments of heartfelt vulnerability.
"Ripcord" Scotty is a sweet-natured, slightly overworked, aide at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility who also enjoys acting at the local haunted house. They try to keep the peace between Abby and Marilyn, often with a mix of humor and exasperation. Scotty genuinely cares for the residents and serves as a grounding presence in the play. This role calls for warmth, relatability, and a good sense of comedic timing.
"Ripcord" May Double as Lewis and Clown in Haunted House Benjamin is Abby’s estranged son, a man with a complicated past who reenters her life under tense circumstances. He is guarded and conflicted but also deeply human, carrying the weight of their shared history.
"Ripcord" May double as The Woman in White in the Haunted House Colleen is Marilyn’s spirited, fun-loving daughter who shares her mother’s playful energy. She is warm and supportive, with a mischievous streak that comes out in her participation in Marilyn’s schemes.
"Ripcord" May Double as Zombie Butler in Haunted House, and Masked Man Derek is Colleen’s husband and Marilyn’s son-in-law, a good-natured, slightly goofy man who’s always game for fun. He’s a loyal family member and a lighthearted addition to the chaos.
"Anything Goes" Principal, Mezzo G3-Eb5 A sexy and charismatic nightclub singer and former evangelist. For some unknown reason Reno has forsaken what was once her calling of evangelism, and has become a very successful nightclub headliner. Reno is confident, clever, philosophical, funny, persuasive, and extremely comfortable with herself physically- and in every other way.
"Anything Goes" Understudy, Tenor B3-G4 Elisha Whitney’s kind but inefficient general manager who is in love with Hope. Must be charismatic and MUST have comedic timing: both verbal and physical plus considerable charm. "Anything Goes" Principal, Soprano A4-Bb5 A wealthy and beautiful heiress. Hope is sailing to marry Lord Evelyn, who – although he is a very nice guy- is her heart’s second choice. It’s just after the crash, and her family has lost much of its fortune (while NOT losing it’s standing)- maintaining the family status quo is very important to her and critical to the ones she loves. Sweet, but with a strong sense of morals and duty. Willing to marry to satisfy mother’s wishes, instead of love.
"Anything Goes" Principal, Baritone C3-G4 Hope’s aristocratic English fiancé. A steady, believable upper crust English accent is a MUST. He carries a machine gun in a violin case- ready for action- but it’s pretty obvious he’s untried in anything desperate.
"Anything Goes" Principal, Mezzo A4-C#5 A traffic-stopping dame. Independent, modern, impulsive, courageous, boundless, immoderate, and driven by whatever gratifies her at the moment. She HAS to have the kind of physical presence that immediately causes every man within eyesight to zing! notice her. The actress playing this part must be extremely comfortable physically.
"Anything Goes" Principal, Any Vocal Hope’s widowed mother who, at this point in time, is mainly concerned with social status and money (snob).
