About the project: Four eccentric Broadway actors (Dee Dee Allen, Barry Glickman, Angie Dickinson, and Trent Oliver) are in desperate need of a new stage. When they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town Indiana high school prom—and that the press is involved—they know it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue and on themselves The town’s parents want to keep the prom on the straight and narrow, but when one student (Emma Nolan) just wants to bring her girlfriend (Alyssa Greene) to the prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with the courageous Emma and some of the town’s citizens—and together they kick-ball-change the world! The Prom captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a timely message that resonates now more than ever. Bring sheet music for (16-32 bars) a contemporary Broadway song that best shows off your voice and acting ability (no backing/karaoke tracks or acapella singing). You may be asked to perform a second selection. Dress to move & arrive stretched/warmed up. You may be asked to learn and perform a short piece of choreography to demonstrate your dance/movement ability. Only dance shoes, bare feet, or socks are allowed in the studio. A list of your conflicts for the rehearsal period (February 3-April 17). No conflicts are allowed after March 27. Please be aware that conflicts may affect casting. A pretentious Julliard graduate recently cast in the non-equity tour of Godspell (though better known for his TV sitcom Talk to the Hand), he loves theatre to his core. Now a struggling actor who loves to hear himself speak, he teaches the students larger lessons about tolerance and acceptance while discovering a new career path along the way.
