About the project: Leonard Vole stands accused of murdering a rich widow. The stakes are high with shocking witness testimony, impassioned outbursts from the dock, and a young man’s fight to escape the hangman’s noose. Generally regarded as one of Christie’s most accomplished plays, this suspenseful thriller keeps audiences guessing until the very end. Additional info: Production Dates: March 6-9, 14-16, & 20*-23, 2025 *Thursday, March 20 is a Pay What You Will performance with proceeds going to the actors and any unpaid crew on the production This audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Wife of the accused-A former actress originally from Austria— Doubles as the woman who has crucial evidence for the defense.
The accused senior counsel- a showmen who understands the courtroom
Sir Wilfrid’s typist- at times lightheaded but shows common sense and confidence (Cockney accent)
Wealthy barrister. Doubles as Justice Wainwright-even tempered professional
The Prosecutor-Straightlaced-self-confident, on top of facts, doesn’t try to be likable
The deceased's housekeeper-suspicious and vengeful-sour personality (Scottish accent)
The Defense solicitor who comes across as shrewd and serious-works strictly by the book
The arresting officer. tall, good looking, friendly and engaging (Doubles as the courtroom policeman).
A police surgeon-reports the physical details of the murder without emotion
A small but vital role who appears near the end of the play-Young and attractive strawberry blonde a bit crude.
Assistant in the forensic lab at Scotland Yard-speaks clearly and factual about the evidence (doubles as the plain clothes detective .
