About the project: Ersatz centers around a starving artist whose life gets turned upside down when a mysterious man creates an aberrant clone of her to claim her art -and her life- as her own. Rate: Non paid. Meals. Mileage compensated. Additional info: Shooting dates: January 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st. Filming location: Baltimore, MD. DC & VA actors may apply. Monologues not required. A woman who feels the weight of sending her portfolio into the ether. She feels her grip on reality slipping away when a clone takes ownership of her art.
A man with an empty friendliness behind his eyes. He views the business of talking to artists and tricking them into giving away their DNA as a pure transaction to test the limits of cloning.
A man who is a loving and encouraging partner to Faiza. He offers Faiza words of comfort before he goes on a business trip, but comes back to a world gone mad.
A woman who is Faiza’s best friend. She supports Faiza, but is unsure what to think when Faiza starts seeing a clone that may or may not be there.
Principal of a nearby school. He grows wary of Faiza after he sees what appears to be her alter her art into disturbing images.
Owner of the art show. Sympathetic to Faiza, but grows concerns at her growing paranoia.
(Played by actor by Faiza and body double) An overly perfect clone of Faiza. She cannot quite act human, but expresses a base need for survival as she copies and overwrites Faiza and her life’s work.
