About the project: "Turtle Knows Your Name" tells the story of a young boy named Upsilimana Tumpalerado, who lives in a Caribbean village and struggles to remember his very long name, but his grandmother insists he learn it; he eventually encounters a magical turtle who collects the names of villagers and writes them on shells at the bottom of the sea, signifying that even the most unique and lengthy names are important and remembered. Additional info: Rehearsals 1/6/25 – 2/20/25 Performance Date: 2/21/25 at 11am (for Gaston County Schools) 2/22/25 and 2/23/25 at 2pm and 7pm (for the public) Please apply if interested.

(female presenting role - singing) ~ The grandmother of Upsilimana Tumpalerado. She is the guiding force for Upsilimana since she is raising him.
(male presenting - singing role) ~ The wise, old turtle who collects names. The turtle is also deeply connected to the emotional significance of the names we are given.
(non singing role) ~ A donkey that roams near the village. Donkey has a silly and playful personality. Donkey is very affectionate and loyal to Upsilimana. He trusts him.
(non singing role) ~ A goat that roams near the village. Goat has a very sociable, lively, inquisitive, and intelligent personality. This character is very stylish and acts like it.
(non singing role) ~ A cow that roams near the village. Cow has a bold, energetic personality with an attitude.
(non singing role) ~ A pig that roams near the village. Pig has an emotionally stand-offish personality and is very sensitive.
(singing and non singling roles) ~ The ensemble plays the local villagers of the town.
