CASTING CALL for indie feature film “Express Entry” (Non Union/Unpaid/IMDB credits) Kalyan and his 8 months pregnant wife Renuka migrate to Canada from a small town in southern India in search of a better life, but what makes them quit half way and go back to their country even when people around them are flourishing. Is it the system that is broken or there’s a dent in the mindset itself?

Age 30-35 yrs, he is a Botany professor, socially awkward. Even though he is educated, he still has an orthodox mindset and strongly believes in male patriarchy. He is a loving husband and a caring father but also a very dominating husband at the same time. He thinks that it's his responsibility to be the breadwinner and doesn't treat his wife as an equal. He is ambitious with regards to his career but not very flexible in adjusting to the new system. Has difficulty communicating in English.
Age 30-35 yrs, got married to kalyan in an arranged marriage. She is shy, intelligent, submissive, fun loving, confused, unorganised and underconfident. She is very tolerant when dealing with Kalyan and his male chauvinistic attitude because she has been exposed to it throughout her childhood within her family and in a way groomed to accept it. She is strong headed and does know how to take a stand but it's mostly to protect her family and marriage. Has difficulty communicating in English.
Age 30-35 yrs. She is Renuka’s manager at her 1st job in Canada. She is a wife and a mother, strong woman, good leader, kind, helpful and fun loving. She helps Renuka and Kalyan set their feet in the new country. When renuka comes across rude customers, Gurleen instils confidence in her and gives her moral support. She is a Punjabi so we need someone who is from Punjab and is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and English.
