ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Looking for actors for a web series "Heartstrings". More details are below. About the project: The web series are about chosen family, love and finding home. Currently focusing on just the pilot episode but will be filming the entire first season (minimum). Rate: At this point directors do not have funding, due to this the roles are currently unpaid. Additional information: Filming will likely be taking place in Guelph, with an option for transportation from Toronto. Aiming to start production in January assuming everything goes as planned. When applying, please submit head shots, your resume and your preferred role(s).

GraceFemale20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

LGBT+ preferred. Protagonist. Grace is a vibrant, adventurous spirit, full of love and laughter. After finding success in her career, she’s left feeling isolated as her friends have drifted away. When she stumbles upon Heartstrings Café, she’s welcomed into a community that helps her rediscover the joy she’s been missing. However, the café is facing a financial crisis, and Grace is determined to save it.

MayaFemale20-24 y.o.African-American

African-American/Mixed preferred, LGBT+ preferred. Supporting. Maya is a powerhouse, a wild spirit, full of passionate fire that will never go out. She fights for what she believes is right, equal rights, freedom and love. She’s been through a lot, she’s lost a lot, but Heartstrings saved her. When her parents, the people supposed to love her no matter what, kicked her out after she came out as queer, Maggie and Henry took her in and, unconditionally, loved her like their own

BenMale23-27 y.o.All ethnicities

Singer-guitarist skills required. Supporting. Ben has ambition, hopes and dreams, something he didn’t always have. Ben had a rough time in high school, trapped in other people’s expectations of him, not knowing who he was. Music was his outlet, he could express himself in a way he couldn’t any other way. But his parents didn’t appreciate his passion, so Henry and Maggie did instead. Heartstrings was Ben’s safe harbour, a home that supported his dreams.

MaggieFemale60-69 y.o.All ethnicities

Supporting. Maggie is the heart and soul of Heartstrings. Alongside her husband, she dreamed of raising a family, but when life didn’t allow them to have children, they poured their love and nurturing spirit into creating the café. Heartstrings became their way of building the family they always wanted, offering a warm and welcoming space for those who needed a home.

HenryMale60-70 y.o.All ethnicities

Supporting. Henry would do anything for his wife. They tried for years to have a family, but couldn’t. So instead they created Heartstrings, a safe place for anyone who needs it. Henry helps Maggie out with running the cafe, dealing with a lot of the business end. Henry at the core is full of heart and is always there to support anyone struggling. He’s a fatherly figure for a lot of the Heartstrings family.

LucasMale20-24 y.o.African-American

Tertiary Lucas is a struggling artist who uses Heartstrings as his studio and sanctuary. He’s eccentric and always on the lookout for inspiration. While he's outwardly confident, he battles with deep insecurities about his talent. Lucas becomes a vital part of the campaign to save Heartstrings through his creative contributions to fundraising and community events.

Jordan and TaylorFemale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

LGBT+ preferred. Tertiary. Jordan and Taylor are best friends trapped in unhappy marriages. Both feel deep, unspoken feelings for each other, but the nature of their relationship complicates their involvement in the fight for Heartstrings. As the season progresses, their emotional connection is revealed, leading to a scandal that tests their friendship and the loyalty of the Heartstrings family.

EmilyFemale25-29 y.o.All ethnicities

Tertiary. Emily is a single, pregnant woman who finds solace in the community of Heartstrings. Her impending motherhood becomes a symbol of hope and resilience for the café regulars. Emily’s personal journey of strength mirrors the larger struggle to save the café, and her presence helps rally the group together.
