About the project: The Producers is a hilarious musical comedy based on the 1967 film of the same name. It tells the story of Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, and Leo Bloom, a timid accountant with fantasies of a life in show biz. Together they hatch a scheme to produce the worst musical ever, and make a fortune by intentionally failing. The Producers is a satirical comedy that makes fun of a variety of topics, including Nazis, ethnic stereotypes, and offensive language. While it is intended to be humorous and provocative, it is important to note that it may contain content that some may find offensive, sexist, racist, or misogynistic. The use of such material is strictly for comedic effect and should not be taken seriously. Your sign-up time determines whether you will sing rather than dance or dance rather than sing. • When you are called up please bring your music to the accompanist and review any points of interest. • When you're ready, take the center and announce your name, number, the name of the song, and the show it is from (if you know the character throw that in too!). • Directors may have you go through your entire piece or stop you after 16-32 measures. Directors may also ask you to repeat some of it with some change in direction. • You should have received a sheet with quotes from the character(s) you are auditioning for. Please select two or three that resonate with you. • After all have sung, they will have groups come up and go through their selections in a round-robin style. Ulla is often used as a comedic device but proves herself to be charming and bold, and knows how to use her looks and personality to her advantage.
