Casting Performers for "Pride and Prejudice" Play
Talent is invited to audition for "Pride and Prejudice" Play. Please see the details below. About the project: This production of Pride and Prejudice while keeping faithful to the novel, moves at a brisk pace and for most of the characters leans toward a broader comic approach. The auditions will consist of readings from the play. A familiarity with the novel would be helpful but not necessary. If you have a classic monologue of one to two minutes, you may share. The play is wordy and witty. The actors must be able to move through it quickly and clearly. Additional info: Auditioners will be asked to read from the sides attached. Callbacks will be on Thursday, December 5, at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals will begin the week of December 9th. Performances run three weekends, beginning January 31st and ending February 16th. Performance dates are Friday, January 31 at 7:30 PM; Saturday, February 1, at 7:30 PM; Sunday, February 2, at 2:00 PM; Thursday, February 6, at 7:30 PM; Friday, February 7, at 7:30 PM; Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 PM; Sunday, February 9, at 2:00 PM; Friday, February 14, at 7:30 PM; Saturday, February 15, at 7:30 PM; Sunday, February 16, at 2:00 PM. Rich, Intelligent, Handsome, Careful, a snob, who falls in love with Elizabeth despite his best efforts not to. This role has a lot of lines.
Sweet, kind, naive. Darcy’s friend. Falls for Jane. Lightly comic. This actor doubles as Fitzwilliam another kind man, but is not naïve.
The third Bennet sister (the bookish one). Overly book learned. A nerd. Comic. The actor doubles as Charlotte Lucas Elizabeth’s best friend and be able to play older as she’s late to marry. Agrees to marry Collins for security. Pragmatic. Serious role.
The fourth Bennet sister. (The forgotten one. )A follower. A little ditzy. Lydia’s sidekick but not happy about it.
Bingley’s older, snobby, nasty sister. Hates Elizabeth wants Darcy’s money. Doubles as Mrs. Gardner, (Play 40s) The Bennet’s thoughtful, wise, aunt. The mother Elizabeth and Jane should have had.
A handsome, charming, smoothtalking army officer in search of money. Ostensibly the villain of the piece as he seduces two teenage girls. He first approaches Elizabeth then ends up unhappily with Lydia. (The actor also has to double as a Guest at the balls)
Darcy’s snobby, bully of an aunt. She has money and power and is not afraid to use them. She doubles as Darcy’s Housekeeper and may be pulled in to be a guest at the balls.
