Dance Opportunities in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" Show

Minneapolis, MN, United States
ID: 274132Exp: 12/14/2024
Description:

Looking for performers for "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" Show. See the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. The Hunchback of Notre Dame features many Romani characters and frequently uses the word “Gypsy” to refer to these people. In both modern and historical contexts, this word is considered a slur against Romani people. While actors will use this word on stage, it is imperative that everyone involved in production understands the context of its usage both on stage and off stage. Additional info: Performances will be held on May 1st through May 11th, 2025. – Dance Audition: There will be a short dance combination that will be taught to all auditioners in small groups. Please plan to wear clothes and shoes that you can easily move in. (If you are only auditioning for the choir, you do not need to participate in the dance audition.) – What to Expect: Please plan for the whole of your audition to take approximately 60-90 minutes. You will sing and read first, then you will be placed in a small group to learn the dance combination. Once the dance portion is over, your audition is complete. Callbacks will be determined on the 15th and those invited will be notified via email. A final cast list will be provided once all roles have been accepted. Please see the attachment for details. If you are interested please apply.
