Description:

Casting actors for Hecuba, Graduate Thesis Set in the 1880s American West, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: Inspired by the Greek tragedy and set in the harsh landscape of the American frontier in the 1880s, Hecuba follows Sharon, a resilient and principled Quaker woman who lives a quiet life with her teenage son, Silas. Her life is shattered when a troubled young man named Jacob, whom Sharon had kindly taken in despite her son’s objections, betrays her trust. In a desperate attempt to steal from them, Jacob shoots Silas, leaving Sharon devastated and alone. Driven by grief and a desire for justice, Sharon embarks on a treacherous journey through the desert to track down Jacob. Along the way, she encounters The Stranger, a Mexican man living a nomadic life in the American territories. In this interaction, Sharon finds herself ruminating on her desire for revenge, and questions whether or not she has the strength to finish what she has started. Later, in a general store, Sharon begs Nathaniel, the store’s owner, for some provisions for her journey. But when she is rejected, she finds herself holding Nathaniel at gunpoint in an act of desperation. Sharon arrives at Jacob’s family home, only to find he has already met a violent end. Confronted by his mother, Mary, Sharon must grapple with the painful realization that her vengeance is ultimately unfulfilling and that her journey has led her to more loss. Hecuba closes as Sharon, broken yet transformed, weeps over her son’s coat, humming a lullaby that echoes through the desert—a haunting reminder of her profound loss.
