Casting Call for Upcoming Stage Play "Charlotte's Web"

About the project: Charlotte’s Web follows the story of a young pig named Wilbur, who is saved from being killed as a runt by the farmer’s daughter, Fern. But once he grows up, Wilbur learns he will be used for food. So his friend Charlotte, a spider living in the barn above Wilbur’s stall, jumps into action by writing miraculous words in her web above Wilbur’s stall, turning Wilbur into a local celebrity, and saving him from the slaughter house. The play highlights themes of friendship, self-sacrifice, and kindness. Rate: Rehearsal stipend (13 days of rehearsal): $1000 Performance: $75 per performance (Approx. 22 performances) Additional info: PREPARATION: Please prepare a single monologue appropriate for the role you wish to audition for, most roles are comedic/dramatic (no more than 3 minutes total, directors would love to see energetic, children’s theatre appropriate pieces, bring whatever shows you off best!) Please provide a headshot and resume upon arrival at audition. CALLBACKS: Monday November 18, 12 pm - 2 pm. Rehearsal Dates*: February 3 – February 14, 2025, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, M-F. Wilbur, a loveable pig. This character must be innocent, but brave. He must be filled with wonder and everyone must fall in love with him.
Charlotte, a spider. Charlotte is wise and motherly to Wilbur. She cares deeply for him and sacrifices greatly for his safety. She is loved by all who know her.
Fern Arable, a young girl. She loves Wilber and will do whatever it takes to keep him safe and happy. She is childlike and kind hearted. Goose, a Goose. Gander’s wife. She is a silly, not too bright, character who repeats everything she says , and is part of the farm animal ensemble
Templeton, a conniving, selfish rat. He is not well liked, and only looks out for what’s in it for him. He should be a bit shady and sneaky. Lurvy (Lucy), a hired farm hand.
Avery Arable, Fern’s Brother. Ornery sibling who is always goofing off and teasing. A jokester. Homer Zuckerman, Fern’s Uncle. Jolly, happy farmer. Very excited for the future of Wilbur.
