About the project: After spending the better years of his life dedicating everything he has to his career as an actor, Richard McKnight is finally awarded a prestigious McGuffin. As he goes up to receive the award he lashes out publicly and lands in a very uncomfortable position. When Richard's left alone to watch the rest of the show, he is shocked to discover the impact he's had on his younger co-star. Riddled with guilt and regret Richard must come to terms with his actions and grow as a person. Rate: Non-Union. Unpaid. Additional information: Audition Location Vancouver, BC. Richard is stubborn to a fault, determined, strong, and passionate. He is a successful actor who has given everything to be where he is in life. Richard resents how long and arduous his journey to stardom has been, and what he has sacrificed in pursuit of it.
Max is an innocent young ingenue, he played the lead alongside Richard in a prestigious film called Solstice and is now being awarded for his talent. He has hope, a big heart, and lots of compassion. He reacts to Richard's hostility with disappointment, rather than anger.
Melinda is Richard's manager, who has known him for years and has watched as he gave up all of his personal relationships in order to pursue the fame and glory of his career. She is excellent at her job and loves a challenge (which is probably why she's worked with Richard for so long). When everything goes down, she is the one holding the situation together and keeping calm and in control.
Kylie is excited and energetic, she has no idea what is going on behind the scenes and is doing her best to keep the show going despite her confusion.
